Frescos sobre Rodas

Frescos sobre Rodas is a project to implement a service of decarbonized logistics for the supply and delivery of fresh products sold in the Municipal Market of the town of Mértola. It is an integral part of the local strategy to implement Rede Alimentar de Mértola.

It presupposes a set of interconnected activities in which the production, processing, distribution, and consumption of food products is based on the sustainable use of the territory’s environmental, economic, social, and nutritional resources. It aims to develop, implement, and disseminate an innovative approach to the local food system as an alternative to the food supply chains based on the currently dominant agribusiness model.

It implements a working model based on a combination of capacity building/infrastructure for local scale food production, processing and distribution; and complementary capacity building of consumers and local governance for this local consumption. It integrates producers, traders, producer and business organizations, consumers, and local governance.
