Sustainable projects are multiplying all over the country and Aveiro is no exception to this wave of people wanting to do more than just start a business. There’s a bit of everything in Aveiro and Peggada brings you some examples in this article.
Alma de Alecrim, a store in the center of Aveiro, has original, practical, designer, sustainable and environmentally friendly pieces. As well as a physical store, they also sell their products online, so they can reach everyone.

2. Rota das Cores
In 2015, Sónia, then an accountant, entered the world of natural, organic and chemical-free products and never left.
She changed her life, changed her profession and opened Rota das Cores, a store selling organic products that help to fight waste. The space in Aveiro also has a wide range of hygiene products, bulk detergents from Eco X and sunglasses made from recycled plastic from Oceanides Eyewear.

3. Kid to Kid
Kid to Kid is a store that buys and sells children’s items from 0-12 years old. Here you can find the most diverse items (new and used) from clothes, furniture, toys, equipment and accessories.

4. Mutuus
Mutuus – Associação Protecção do Planeta (Planet Protection Association) is based in Aveiro and, in addition to all the work it does to protect the planet, it has opened a second-hand clothes store which helps finance all this work.
In the Mutuus store you can find used items at affordable prices, including vintage clothing, sportswear and children’s clothing, pyjamas, underwear, shoes, accessories, but also books and toys.
Donations of items are received directly at the store and through their street containers in Aveiro. All funds generated are used for doing good, promoting local environmental actions such as workshops, awareness campaigns in schools, and cleanup activities.

Desertas Beach and Sport is designed and idealized for all of those who want to be at one with nature, well-being and the sea.
Located in Costa Nova Beach and inserted in Quinta de São Miguel, the Desertas offers its guests a unique stay, in a room harmoniously decorated to match the surrounding view.
In a place about 2 meters above the ground, situated at the height of the tops of the pine trees, tranquility is guaranteed. In addition, there are favorable conditions to combine the practice of sports with your stay.

Marta Cerqueira is from Minho and a vegetarian. Luckily, she lives in Lisbon, where there is more tofu than sarrabulho. She has been a journalist for over 15 years, the last of which writing about food and sustainability. Now, out of the newsroom, she continues to write whenever she can, be it in magazines, journals, post its, or on her Instagram page, which she uses to share a life divided between being a mom-person-foodie-traveler. Still, she created Peggada so she could write about what doesn't fit in a magazine, journal, post it or Instagram: a better world.
