Maia, Braga, Lisbon, Coimbra, Sintra and Tavira will host the Desafio Vegetariano foodtruck, which will offer Portuguese snacks in a 100% vegetable version, with the aim of bringing the population closer to vegetarian alternatives.
The Vegetarian Challenge has launched an outreach campaign to raise awareness of the possibilities of a plant-based diet and encourage people to cook vegetarian meals in the first month of the year.
This year, the great novelty of the initiative is the itinerant foodtruck, which will tour six cities – Maia, Braga, Lisbon, Coimbra, Sintra and Tavira. At these stops, the project team will be cooking and offering traditional Portuguese 100% vegetable snacks during the lunch period, between 11am and 1pm.
The campaign kicks off on January 10 in Maia and ends on January 25 in Tavira. Here’s the full schedule:
The organization is taking advantage of New Year’s resolutions to challenge the Portuguese to follow a healthier diet based on vegetarian options for a month, free of charge and integrated into a large digital community.
After registering online, participants receive informative emails, recipes that help reduce the ecological footprint without compromising taste, personalized monitoring and nutritional support from the Vegetarian Challenge Nutrition team.
