BabyLoop is an online platform that was created in 2019 in partnership with tech startup The Loop Co (which works on e-commerce solutions to increase the circular economy). As The Loop Co’s e-commerce director Gustavo Alves says, “at a time when the birth rate in Portugal is at an all-time low and inflation is hitting records, we want to help Portuguese families so that the purchase of all the products necessary for a child’s education is not a burden that is difficult to bear.
The starting process is simple and convenient. You send a photo and, within 12 hours, the platform evaluates the product. In a second phase, you can drop it off at one of the 87 Continente participant stores throughout the country, or request the home pickup.
This project actively contributes to reduction of waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse. This SDG also aims to reduce global food waste in production and consumption.
