The ENERGÉTICO website provides information, consumption and cost simulators, energy-saving tips and a tool to guide social workers in advising low-income families.
“ENERGÉTICO” is the new portal that brings together the main players in the energy sector – those involved in its production, transportation, marketing and distribution – around a common goal: to raise awareness among the Portuguese of the need to change habits in order to use energy more efficiently and combat energy poverty.
On thewebsite you’ll find up-to-date information, consumption and cost simulators, frequently asked questions and answers about energy consumption, news and opinion articles, as well as energy-saving tips. The initiative also includes a major multi-channel communication campaign, the widespread dissemination of content on social networks, initiatives in schools and universities and the training of social workers.
Through a tool offered on the portal, this training allows social workers to be supported and guided in their assistance to low-income families, in order to advise them on the most suitable market offers for their situation, both in terms of consumption and contracted power.
The project was launched on May 29, on World Energy Day, by ENTRAJUDA, a social solidarity project that has been proposing projects to promote energy literacy and combat energy poverty. The initiative aims to be a pact with both an environmental and social impact.
“The logic of efficiency and effectiveness must be extended to all sectors of our country, including the energy sector. In a country where it is estimated that more than 50% of energy is wasted and between 1.8 and three million Portuguese are in a situation of energy poverty, ENERGÉTICO aims to raise awareness and change people’s behavior by bringing together the players in this sector for a common cause that is bigger than each one of us. Only with the commitment of society as a whole will we be able to bring about the changes that are essential for a good that we can’t see, but which is indispensable for our daily lives,” Isabel Jonet, president of ENTRAJUDA, said in a statement.
ENERGÉTICO has the institutional support of ERSE – Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (Energy Services Regulatory Authority) and partnerships with companies and associations in the sector that want to join in, with ADENE – Agência para a Energia (Energy Agency), EDP, FLOENE, Fundação GALP and REN already confirmed as founders.
