The EarthWise Alliance brings together 11 women with various backgrounds to support companies that want to be more prosperous and healthy and contribute to a better world.
EarthWise Alliance, a community of consultants and freelancers who design sustainable and regenerative strategies and actions, has launched a new platform with the aim of facilitating new connections and accompanying organizations on their sustainability journey towards regeneration.
“We believe that many leaders and organizations want to leave a positive mark on society and nature. Beyond complying with legal requirements, they want to innovate, grow, be structurally resilient to systemic shocks, with greater vitality and contribute to making the world a better place with successful businesses. But we also know that corporate sustainability is a highly complex structural issue. It involves diverse and interdisciplinary knowledge that touches every organization in a transversal way. It implies collaboration: between leaders, departments and business areas, between companies and essential stakeholders,” reads the website.
Por isso, a EarthWise Alliance nasce para ajudar quem quer dar os primeiros passos.
According to the press release, this network for crossing and sharing learning and work opportunities aims to “activate different skills to co-create proposals to meet the reality of each company, throughout the country”, making organizations more prosperous and healthy, with a positive impact on nature and people.
“Each project and each client activates different allies inside and outside the alliance: whether for the promotion of well-being and mental health in organizations, ESG reporting, leadership and communication in sustainability, industrial symbioses, the design of reforestation programs or environmental education, among others. We have several partners and have been growing organically. With the new website, we now want to extend our roots to connect more people and more ideas for cross-sector proposals,” says co-founder Clara Silva, speaking to Sustentável Magazine.
Currently, the alliance brings together 11 Portuguese women with different and complementary backgrounds, experiences and perspectives in the fields of Biology, Environmental Engineering, Psychology, Communication, Biochemistry, Tourism, Management and Design, with specializations in ESG, Sustainability, Circular Economy and Regenerative Leadership.
“Some of us have been working independently for several years, but sustainability challenges require synergies because they are highly complex and multidisciplinary. They affect the entire organization. We started getting together to take a more systemic view, to keep up with the very rapid developments in the area and to gain scale for certain projects,” says Clara Silva. “The desire to create an aggregating platform for consultants grew and came to life with a reflection exercise in July 2023, which mapped out a joint dream: to empower people and organizations to regenerate the world.”
However, they don’t consider themselves a female network, opening their doors to “anyone who identifies with the dream and shared values, always based on criteria of trust: in the person and in their work”, they say on their website.
“We recognize the role of women in leading this process. But this is not a female community. Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of Nature, we are betting on diversity, on the flow between divergences and convergences, to create the conditions for new responses to emerge,” explains Cristina Silva Bastos, co-founder of the project.
According to the press release, participation as an allied member is governed by a “Pact of Trust”a document that guides the sense of community and action, identifying shared values, governance and transparent financial distribution.
“It all starts with a change of mentality, of ways of being and doing things in our companies. And it involves mobilizing shared leadership, because we can and must all be agents of the necessary change,” concludes Cristina Silva Bastos.
