Saudade Design is a French-Portuguese handmade project. In the online store you will find pillows, utility mats, and yoga mats handwoven in Portugal, strictly from recycled materials.
Reviving materials at the end of their life cycles has always happened, long before we talked about upcycling. This was the basis of Portuguese weaving for centuries.
At the time, this practice existed due to scarcity of resources and not for environmental motivations. Nothing was wasted, everything valued and cherished for a prolonged life.
At Saudade Design, orders come out of the workshop in reusable covers made from recycled materials like leftover boat sails or old canvas. Unnecessary packaging is reused so that no more waste is generated.
