Mercado da Graça is one of the most emblematic places in Ponta Delgada. It is located at Rua do Mercado and was built in 1848 in order to keep the countless donkeys and peddlers away from Praça do Município, that used to gather there to present their “agriculture novelties”.
You can find fresh fruits and vegetables there, as well as meats, fish, flowers, and other agricultural or handicraft products.
Mercado da Graça preserves the tradition of direct commerce of products where the consumer can verify their quality. It is a fair trade with no middlemen or additional fees.
