Prio has opened a new washing center in Lagoa, Algarve, which reuses 100% of the water used in car washing.
A project to reuse water in one of the areas of Portugal most affected by drought is noteworthy. As part of its commitment to more environmentally friendly solutions, Prio has opened a new washing center in
Lagoa, Algarve (Portugal), which reuses 100% of the water used to wash cars.
It should be remembered that the serious situation in the region has already led to the implementation of measures that require water supplies to be cut by 25% in the agricultural sector and 15% in the urban sector.
This equipment recycles 100% of the water consumed, through a complex treatment system – which includes decantation, hydrocarbon separation, biological reactor and filtering phases – thus ensuring that the water once again has the right characteristics to be reused in the car wash cycle.
In another aspect, but still as part of the drive for more sustainable practices, Prio has a project underway to close the life cycle of used cooking oil. They guarantee the allocation of collection points for the oils, which in turn are collected, transported, pre-treated and stored by dedicated waste management operators, who in the end forward/trade them to Prio for the production of biodiesel.
