Refurbed<\/a>, a marketplace dedicated to refurbished<\/a> technology and sports products, is making its debut in Portugal. The online platform promises to bring the concept of sustainable shopping and the circular economy, with products up to 40% cheaper. <\/span><\/p>\n

Refurbed devices are refurbished, restored and thoroughly tested by experts, which means that on average they produce 73% less electronic waste, 80% less carbon dioxide (CO2) and 90% less water when compared with buying a new device. <\/span><\/p>\n

The offer includes more than 18,000 products, from smartphones, laptops and tablets to household appliances, electric bikes and winter sports equipment, with at least a twelve-month warranty.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Refurbed wants to revolutionize the way Portuguese consumers view technology and consumption, which we believe should be more sustainable and conscious,” said Kilian Kaminski, co-founder of Refurbed, who was in Portugal to launch the brand. “We believe that Portugal has all the conditions to embrace this type of more conscious consumption. We see buyers with strong environmental concerns, high levels of trust in electronics retailers and increasingly consistent online shopping habits,” he adds. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to the brand, one of its focuses is on consumer literacy. “It’s important to understand the difference between second-hand and refurbished products. The latter go through a rigorous restoration and verification process, which ensures their quality and performance comparable to new products, and with a guarantee,” says Francisco Esteves, Refurbed Portugal’s country manager, in a statement. “Our products have a minimum guarantee of one year and a 30-day return period, for whatever reason.” <\/span><\/p>\n

In Portugal, one of the company’s objectives is to minimize electronic waste, promoting a circular economy in which the concept of waste becomes a resource, thanks to the reconditioning and reuse of products up to their useful life limit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Refurbed wants to introduce a new “R” in Portugal – Refurbish – as a viable and responsible alternative to buying new products. With this expansion, the company is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable consumption and the circular economy in Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n

The platform was founded in 2017 in Austria and currently operates in 11 countries, namely Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Portugal and the Czech Republic. <\/span><\/p>\n

Taking into account the conversion of customers who opt for reconditioned products instead of new ones, 270,000 tons of CO2 emissions will have been reduced, equivalent to the annual emissions of 58,000 cars; 885 tons of electronic waste will have been prevented, equivalent to the weight of 442 cars; and 94 billion liters of water will have been saved, equivalent to the annual water consumption of 2 million households.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
