With the motto “Create Impact with your IRS”, SEMEAR<\/a> – a non-profit organization that aims to fully include this population in society and the job market – has just launched an initiative to raise awareness and collect 0.5% of the Portuguese IRS, all to ensure that more people in this condition are trained at the SEMEAR Academy<\/a> and integrated into the job market. <\/p>\n

2. Caf\u00e9 Joyeux<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Caf\u00e9 Joyeux works every day to fulfill the dreams of dozens of young people with intellectual and developmental difficulties, giving them a stable, happy job and the opportunity to showcase their talent and skills. The main ambition is to give visibility to cognitive impairment and foster social interaction by offering work in a common environment to people who are far from a job. <\/p>\n

3. Dona Ajuda<\/a><\/h3>\n

Dona Ajuda<\/a> is a non-profit organization that stands out for its social store, located in Lisbon’s Mercado do Rato. There they receive all kinds of donations: clothes, books, shoes, games, decoration items, etc. After being properly sorted, they are put up for sale, at low prices, and all the profit from the sale goes to help those who need it most, by supporting institutions.<\/p>\n

Reshape Ceramics<\/a> is a social project that offers training and employment to people from the prison community. In practice, they train groups of inmates to learn how to produce ceramic pieces. Not only do they gain a skill during their years in prison, but they also have in this project a support for a restart of life in freedom.<\/p>\n
