Ponto d’Orvalho is a transdisciplinary festival open to discussion and environmental action through artistic, social and ecological interventions, and where gastronomy takes the spotlight. On September 13, 14 and 15, the event takes place at Herdade do Freixo do Meio. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Joana Kr\u00e4mer Horta has always worked in the field of event organization. However, during the pandemic, all these events were put on hold, and so was Joana. <\/p>\n

She left Lisbon for Montemor-o-Novo, a city with which she has a special relationship, as she lived there for part of her childhood and youth. “When I got there, I asked Herdade do Freixo do Meio if I could work there and they said yes,” she tells Peggada. Her time there lasted several months and, during that time, she did everything from working in the vegetable garden to communicating about the space. “I learned a lot about agroforestry and regenerative agriculture,” she says. Now she’s calling people to the Herdade, in a special event, so that more people can experience the land and all its potential. <\/p>\n

It’s called Ponto d’Orvalho<\/a> and takes place from September 13 to 15 at Herdade do Freixo do Meio.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Herdade do Freixo do Meio, the venue chosen for the event, is a pioneer and exemplary in terms of respecting nature’s natural cycles, promoting biodiversity and forest regeneration. It is therefore the ideal setting for three days of a festival that aims not only to raise awareness of ecological issues, but also to inspire new practices and ways of coexisting. “The activities we’re proposing and the guests we’ll have will help us reflect on how we can regenerate and revitalize our ecosystems through food and respect and close contact with nature,” she says. <\/p>\n

In 2024, Ponto d’Orvalho remains committed to creating a hybrid and decentralized program, presenting local, national and international artistic proposals that raise awareness of environmental issues and awaken greater ecological awareness.<\/p>\n

In a three-day laboratory of concerts, shared meals, installations, performances, DJ sets, culinary experiences, walks, workshops and talks, fundamental aspects of the relationship with nature, art and ecology will be addressed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the branches of the theme has been called Listening to the Landscape – Ecologies of Sound<\/strong>, because it proposes listening as an essential means of accessing new ways of inhabiting the territory. This approach tackles the current ecological crisis, highlighting the importance of developing an auditory sensitivity to the landscapes around us, recognizing sound as an integral part of our interaction with the environment. Highlights include audio-sensory performances and sound installations by Antonina Nowacka, Rafael Toral, Francesca Heart and Violeta Azevedo, as well as the collective listening workshop by Yuri Tuma from the Institute for Post Natural Studies, among other proposals. <\/p>\n

Another branch is called Eating the Landscape – Soil Ecologies<\/strong> and puts food and eating at the center of the discussion. The discussion will address strategies for regenerating food systems, underlining the lifeblood of nature and the importance of creating synergies between all living organisms, including humans. In this area, the works and edible proposals of the collectives Pousio, Futuro do Passado by Alice Artur, Francisca Paiva and Joana Trindade Bento, The Gramounce, Francesco Ogliari from Tua Madre and the duo from the restaurant SEM stand out. <\/p>\n

This is also why Ponto d’Orvalho’s meals are an integral part of the festival experience, this year with menus designed by chef Francesco Ogliari, from the Tua Madre restaurant in \u00c9vora, and by artists and collectives from the program.<\/p>\n

In collaboration with Cooperativa Integral Minga and Freixo do Meio, the team works with local producers in the region to prepare the menus in a regenerative and conscious way. This is also the festival’s only food option, as no meals can be cooked on site. <\/p>\n

The single ticket costs \u20ac90 and gives access to all the activities on the program during the three days of the festival, including concerts, performances, installations, walks, workshops and talks (\u20ac45 for Montemor-o-Novo residents).<\/strong><\/p>\n
