We accumulate pens in drawers or backpacks and easily find them under the sofa. And if we want to throw them away? Should we put them in the comon garbage, the recycling bin or is there an alternative? Recycling bin, comon garbage, or do we put them back in the junk drawer until we find a solution? None of the above. The pens that we all easily gather can and should be recycled. We’ll explain how.<\/p>\n

Firstly, as Sociedade Ponto Verde explains on its website, markers, felt-tip pens, fountain pens and normal writing pens are not packaging<\/strong> and should therefore not be placed in the yellow recycling bin.<\/p>\n

But before you go pen in hand to the comon waste bin, there is a solution. <\/p>\n

Staples Department Store has created the “Canet\u00e3o”, a special recycling bin where only pens, ballpoint pens and markers should be deposited. The recycled material resulting from the treatment of this waste is used in the plastics and metal alloy manufacturing industry.<\/p>\n

The waste deposited in the Canet\u00e3o is collected and forwarded to a Landbell Group company dedicated to the collection and recycling of waste, to the application of the resulting materials and to the creation of technical solutions in industries as diverse as the automobile, telecommunications and agriculture sectors, as you can read on Staples website.<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The “Canet\u00e3o” is available at 34 Staples stores in mainland Portugal. You can see where you can find each one here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
