May 13th is Humus Day! Yep, that day exists and we want to celebrate it. That’s why here’s the recipe that revolutionized our homemade hummus. It’s from Am\u00e1bile Kolenda<\/a>, an inspiration when it comes to easy recipes with unusual, plant-based flavors.<\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

. 3 cups of overcooked chickpeas
. 1\/2 of a cup of raw tahini
. Lemon juice (to your taste, about 2-3 tablespoons)
. Salt
. Cumin (optional)
. 1 tsp of garlic paste (optional)
. Icy water (little by little)<\/p>\n

Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Soak the beans the day before and cook them until they are very well cooked \u2014 that’s the first secret to creaminess. Then drain and place the beans in a bowl and cover with cold water to remove the excess husks. To do this, rub the cooked grains between your hands (without squeezing), and they will loosen and float, which makes the process of disposing the husks easier.<\/p>\n

Then put all the ingredients in a blender and add the water little by little so that it doesn’t get stale. The water must be very cold.<\/p>\n

The tahini is another secret of this recipe: it must be very liquid, clear and smooth. The quality of the tahini will have a 100% influence on the outcome of the recipe.<\/p>\n

And no, this recipe doesn’t use olive oil, but when you serve it, feel free to add a good drizzle of olive oil on top to finish it off.<\/p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
