Summer is almost here and this year you can count on 393 Portuguese beaches being awarded the Blue Flag, 21 more than last year. The beaches that bear this symbol of bathing quality obey a strict set of criteria, divided into Information and Environmental Education, Water Quality, Safety and Services and Environmental Management and Equipment, which guarantee the best conditions in terms of safety, sustainability, accessibility and well-being.<\/p>\n

Among so many river and coastal beaches, the hard part is choosing. This year, we suggest you take a leap (and a dip or two) at the seven beaches that were distinguished for the first time with this award.<\/p>\n

Ponte do Bico Fluvial Beach, Braga<\/strong><\/p>\n

This bathing area on the C\u00e1vado river offers a vast sandy beach and a grassy area, as well as a bar and a picnic park with covered barbecues for family and friends to socialize. The river beach also has a space for parking bicycles. You can visit it between June 10 and September 11, 2022.<\/p>\n

Fluvial Beach of Faial, Vila Verde<\/strong><\/p>\n

Faial beach is a large and calm leisure area, with benches and picnic tables, which invites not only swimming, but also canoeing and stand up paddle. The bathing season opens on June 15 and ends on September 15.<\/p>\n

Aquarius Beach, Porto<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ideal for a family beach day, Aqu\u00e1rio beach offers two playgrounds, good access, parking and bicycle parking, and an unusually special landscape. From June 9 until September 11, you will be able to discover this beach in Porto Alegre.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Fluvial Beach of Ronqueira, T\u00e1bua<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located on the banks of the river Alva, the river beach of Ronqueira is part of the Accessible Tourism, not forgetting people with limited physical mobility (it has walking sticks, walkers and wheelchair-accessible pedestrian paths) and people with visual and \/ or hearing impairment (Braille signage and area for the stay of guide dogs, for example). With rural and forest landscapes, this inclusive beach has a picnic area (with barbecue facilities) nearby and will be open for swimming from June 13 until September 11.<\/p>\n

Praia Velha, Marinha Grande<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Praia Velha, in S\u00e3o Pedro de Moel, you can go for a walk along the wooden walkways, which extend for about 1km of sand, and by bike along the bicycle path parallel to the road. From June 10 to September 11, enjoy a sunset on this golden beach surrounded in green by its surrounding pine trees.<\/p>\n

Fluvial Beach of Azenhas D’el Rei, Alandroal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although its inauguration is scheduled for June (somewhere between the 1st and the 15th), Azenhas d’El Rei beach has already been awarded the Blue Flag. With bar, restaurant, leisure areas, picnic park and a space for caravans, this new fluvial beach can be visited until September 30th.<\/p>\n

Fluvial Beach of Alqueva, Portel<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a privileged view of the Alqueva dam, this fluvial beach has a sandy beach and a grassy area with awnings and canes. With a vast leisure area, bar, and restaurant overlooking the lake, this place is perfect for resting and practicing several dynamic activities between June 10 and September 18.<\/p>\n

Take advantage of the warm summer days to get to know (and protect) these places from the coast to the interior of the country – don’t forget to save your garbage and put it in the respective recycling bins at the Blue Flag beaches.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

And that's fine because if they don't get their weather predictions right, she wasn't the one who would change that.
