From North to the South of the country, we give you the opportunity to discover the bio-waste collection programs. <\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6722b8a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"6722b8a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-56f0793 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"56f0793\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You don&#8217;t sort your kitchen&#8217;s food scraps yet? By December 31, 2023, the selective collection of this bio-waste will be mandatory in Portugal and in the European Union member states, in order to avoid sending it to landfills. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Portuguese municipalities have been implementing options for their residents, as is the case in Sintra, which since 2020 has enabled the separation of bio-waste. Now available in the entire municipality, the adhesion can be done through a form on the SMAS Sintra site or at the service counters. Afterwards, residents will receive a small bucket (of seven liters) and green bags for depositing waste that must be deposited in the undifferentiated containers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To encourage residents, SMAS will give a discount of 1\u20ac for every 30 days, on the tariffs for water and waste services for 2023. The sorting of this waste is done by the treatment entity (Tratolixo) using an optical reading system that will allow it to be sent for energy production or organic compost. According to SMAS, Sintra will contribute with 42.9% of the total amount of bio-waste from the municipalities in Portugal. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find out about other selective bio-waste collection programs, from North to South of Portugal. If you have more information, do not hesitate to send us an email. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lisbon<\/strong> has 22 community containers (see<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/lisboaacompostar.cm-lisboa.pt\/pls\/OKUL\/f?p=178:16:17152862625491::NO:::\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). The registration for allocation of domestic and\/or community containers can be done through the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lisboaacompostar.cm-lisboa.pt\/pls\/OKUL\/f?p=178:15:1745683429::NO:::\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website of the &#8220;Lisboa a Compostar&#8221; program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and includes 19 municipalities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Set\u00fabal<\/strong> makes more than 60 containers available on the public highway. Home waste collection is done in specific areas (see <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/viewer?mid=1jF4dd2N4XQLy1mUuEC3zzV1SHplj1G0f&amp;ll=38.53305000000002%2C-8.868656000000005&amp;z=13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). You can sign up for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.setubalambiente.pt\/setubal-composto-contentores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website of the project &#8220;Set\u00fabal com.posto tem + valor&#8221;.<\/span><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>North Region<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In<\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are more than 400 brown containers near the ecopoint networks in <strong>Porto<\/strong>, and the city council estimates that they will reach 650 by the end of 2023. To get the access card or receive a domestic container you can sign up at<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/organico.portoambiente.pt\/obter-kit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> site of the &#8220;Porto Org\u00e2nico&#8221; program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or through the 220 100 220 line.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Viana do Castelo:<\/strong> there are more than<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">480 community containers (see <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/viewer?mid=1-KXYI7T0ALJlPYvxDA_DYwMQs2ZyVRMJ&amp;ll=41.718141508119714%2C-8.761559000000009&amp;z=11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Enrollment in the program &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cm-torresnovas.pt\/images\/dev_images\/Noticias\/2022\/11_NOVEMBRO\/Compos_Torres_Flyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compostorres<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;can be made through the email <\/span><a href=\"mailto:compostorres@cm-torresnovas.pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">compostorres@cm-torresnovas.pt<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At<\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Aveiro<\/strong> you can get information through the site<\/span><a style=\"font-weight: 400;\" href=\"mailto:ciclocompost2021@gmail.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ciclocompost2021@gmail.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and follow initiatives promoted by community gardens and local associations. <\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At <strong>Castelo<\/strong> Branco<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the municipality of Fund\u00e3o associated<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to Resiestrela&#8217;s home composting incentive program, &#8220;Compostar, outra forma de reciclar&#8221;. Pre-registration can be made through qualidadedevida@cm-fundao.pt or by calling 969 527 915. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Alentejo Region:<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <strong>\u00c9vora<\/strong> there is a community composting island in the Quinta da Faia neighborhood, in Redondo, and by the end of 2023 the collection is planned for the whole municipality. The project <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cm-evora.pt\/projeto-evoraverde-alarga-o-numero-de-entidades-parceiras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c9vora+Verde <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provides for the collection of bio-waste in school canteens, elderly centers, universities and hospitals, businesses in the HORECA channel and in private homes in the Malagueira neighborhood. <\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In<\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Beja<\/strong>, in the city of Odemira, there is a community compost bin in Jardim da Fonte F\u00e9rrea.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cm-odemira.pt\/p\/compostagem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let&#8217;s Compost Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is for contract holders of water, sanitation, and waste services who have a garden, vegetable garden, or plot of land. It is also possible to sign up for community composting.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Algarve Region: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Castro Marim<\/strong> the program &#8220;Compostar \u00e9 Dar Vida, \u00e9 Valorizar! exists since April 2022 and enrolment can be made at the Town Clerk&#8217;s Office or by filling in the<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cm-castromarim.pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">registration form<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to gam@cm-castromarim.pt or by post<\/span>. <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Silves<\/strong> eight community containers were inaugurated (Silves, Algoz, Tunes, Alcantarilha, P\u00eara, Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara, SB Messines, S. Marcos da Serra) in December 2022<\/span><b>.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Joining the community composting can be done by filling out the registration form available on the website of the municipality and sent to the email residuos@cm-silves.pt; or by signing up in person at Silves City Hall or at the Council&#8217;s Parish Councils\/Unions.
