Klarna is an application that was born to make online shopping easier. Now, it is also a tool to learn more about brands so that users can make more informed decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the latest insights and tools are the <\/span>“conscious badges <\/span>(conscious badges) that reveal the environmental efforts of electronic brands, supported by the independent <\/span>Clarity AI, an independent sustainability technology platform.<\/span><\/p>\n

Users can access even more comprehensive metrics about their purchases, including information about brands’ greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy derived from renewable resources, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

This new resource aims to respond to consumer demands for more transparent brands, including the majority of the Portuguese: 64% seek more information about the environmental impact of products throughout the shopping experience, according to the <\/span>Klarna’s consumer survey<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In practice, electronics brands can earn up to 5 badges:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Lowest direct GHG emissions: if the company is among the 10% of comparable companies tested by Clarity AI;<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Lower indirect GHG emissions: if the company is among the 10% of comparable companies tested by Clarity AI; <\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Commitment to reduce GHG emissions: if the company has committed to reduce GHG emissions according to the 1.5 \u00baC target;<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. GHG emissions disclosure: if the company discloses direct energy-related and indirect GHG emissions; <\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Use of renewable energy: More than 90% of the energy used by the brand comes from renewable sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The “responsible badges” thus become “the first ever assessment of the achievements of electronic product brands, providing transparency at scale for consumers around the world,” says Angel Agudo, Board Director and Head of Product at partner platform Clarity IA, in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Environmental insights will be available via the transaction details page in the Klarna app after an e-product purchase is made. The “badges” will also be accessible in the coming weeks via the Klarna CO2e tracker, regardless of whether or not they have made a purchase of this type of product. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Conscious Collections and other initiatives<\/b> Klarna’s sustainable engagement initiatives<\/b><\/h3>\n

    The badges come after Klarna launched the ‘<\/span>Conscious Collections’<\/span><\/a> in 2022, an initiative that gave prominence to eco-friendly and ethical clothing brands.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Already in January of this year, Klarna launched a <\/span>reseller feature<\/span><\/a> that allows consumers to sell their previous purchases directly through the Klarna app in Sweden. <\/span> <\/p>\n

    Recently, the brand presented the collections “<\/span>Circular Shop<\/span><\/a>” in some markets, highlighting brands with circular services to maximize product usage, and revealed <\/span>significant upgrades for their CO2e tracker<\/span><\/a>including providing product-level emissions data for almost 60 million items at all stages of the product life cycle – on average, more than 324,000 consumers actively track their carbon footprint through Klarna every month.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
