March was chosen, but in fact it could have been December or August. The date matters little, when the cause is to be taken up all year round.<\/p>\n

March is officially the month of the Bulk by initiative of Zero Waste Lab<\/a> and Maria Granel<\/a>, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of bulk and supporting all players in the sector (from retailers to suppliers and consumers). <\/p>\n

“It is urgent that we mobilize the Portuguese for bulk consumption, so that is the goal of this movement: to raise awareness with individual and community strength. For one month we will celebrate Bulk, uniting consumers, distributors, activists and environmental associations in a common national agenda of initiatives in neighborhood bulk stores, media articles, online conversations and debates, digital content to be disseminated through various means,” shares Sara Morais Pinto, co-founder of Zero Waste Lab and coordinator of Liga-A\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bulk. The ambassadors, the events, and the goals<\/h3>\n

The initiative has the institutional support of the European Commission, Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Zero, and Deco, and is gathering a strong network of ambassadors that includes activists and other personalities who will contribute so that the message reaches an even larger audience, through digital content shared on their social networks. Ana Varela (actress), Isabel Silva (digital content creator), Joana Guerra Tadeu (activist), Joana Lim\u00e3o, Catarina Canelas (journalist), Joana Seixas (actress), among others, are some of the more than 20 names that have already joined the campaign.<\/p>\n

The national agenda (with events of different nature from north to south and islands) is now available at Peggada<\/a> (an online project that connects the most sustainable businesses in the country with consumers who want to have a greener daily life) and also in the social networks of Liga-A\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/a><\/p>\n

The campaign will feature a closing event on March 30, the day the UN first marks International Zero Waste Day, with a debate with political and civil society representatives and the launch of a petition to review and relax bulk regulation. In addition, and with the support of the www.agranel.pt <\/a>platform and Peggada, the network of bulk projects throughout the country will be updated.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
